(June 2001) — Some of the hottest new concepts in book designs will be on display in the Designers Book Showcase, located in the BookTech West exhibit hall, July 30th (11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.) and July 31st (11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) at the San Francisco Marriott, San Francisco, CA. Book designers will have the opportunity to showcase their talent to 1,400 book publishing professionals attending BookTech West.

This special exhibit is not a competition. The designers reward is the the prospect of new business. A placard summarizing information about the book, the designer, the printer, paper and other information will be displayed with the submission piece. Plus, designers have the option of standing near the display to speak with expo visitors. An area will be provided for meetings between book designer and publisher. The networking opportunities alone are worth the trip!

Entry fees (One book/$40, Two books/$75, Three books/$100, Four or more/$30 per book) include: Book design on display in the BookTech West exhibit hall (July 30-31, 2001); A placard summarizing information about the book design; FREE admission into the BookTech West exhibit hall (a savings of $25); FREE admission into the Keynote Address of your choice (Monday, July 30th at 10:15 -11 a.m.); SAVINGS of $100 off of BookTech West's Conference Registration Fees!

Timely and relevant, the BookTech West conference, from July 30-August 1, 2001, features a "Design Showcase" conference track, specifically created for designers involved with book publishing! Sessions include: Managing Budgets for Creative Cover Designs, Managing Quality, Schedules and Costs, Digital Proofing: Book Production in the Digital Age, Specialty Printing and Finishing for Your Special Title, Quality Control: Checkpoints for Success and Communication Tools: Internet Solutions for Electronic Idea Exchange. From July 30-31, 2001, the exhibit hall will house more than 70 industry suppliers. In addition to the Designers Book Showcase, other exhibit hall highlights include: e-BookTech West - where companies with e-book capabilities will showcase their new and exciting products and services; Survival of the Fittest - attendees can play BookTech West's exhibit hall adventure game for a chance to win $1,000 cash; Bookbuilders West's Silent Auction - Held on July 30th in the exhibit hall benefiting the National Institute for Literacy.
