Furniture Industry Content Expert to Lead New Publication for NAPCO
PHILADELPHIA, PA - North American Publishing Company (NAPCO), the leading voice in business-critical information, has named Sheila Long O'Mara as Editor in Chief for Home Furnishings Business (HFB), the company's latest magazine. In her new role, O'Mara will oversee the editorial direction of HFB, which will focus on the business of furniture retail today. HFB will introduce retailers to best practices for home furnishings retailing and offer valuable strategies and intelligence for manufacturers and retailers who want to maintain successful businesses.
"We're thrilled to have Sheila join our team," explains HFB publisher Amy Kyle. "In addition to her years of editorial experience, Sheila's vision for connecting information to the people and businesses that need it will be an outstanding asset to our magazine's growth and success." O'Mara is a seasoned journalist with more than 15 years experience in newspapers and magazines - the bulk of her experience covering business news. She first covered the furniture industry in 1994 on the staff of Furniture/Today and was most recently employed as Executive Editor for InFurniture before joining the staff of HFB.
"I am looking forward to the opportunity to be on the ground level of creating a publication that takes a nuts-and-bolts approach to helping home furnishings retailers run their businesses more efficiently and more profitably in our ever-changing industry," explains O'Mara.
HFB will come under the direction of Eric Schwartz, President of NAPCO's Consumer Technology Publishing Group (CTPG). The CTPG Group publishes four leading magazines for the consumer electronics retailing and consumer markets (Dealerscope, Custom Retailer, Picture Business and E-Gear), as well as extensive custom publishing for several leading trade associations, including CEA,HTSA and Brandsource.
"Sheila's depth of experience and knowledge of the furniture market will allow her to focus HFB on the issues that are most important to the industry. She'll make HFB a magazine that retailers will need to read," says Schwartz.
Home Furnishings Business will be launched during the Las Vegas Market in January 2006.
