Editorial Intern

North American Publishing Company, a dynamic leader in print and online in the publishing industry, is looking for a few good interns to join its staff.

Interactive Designer/Graphic Designer

Interactive Designer/Graphic Designer with 5+ years experience creating html email, flash, website designs and print-based
promotions. In-depth knowledge of Adobe CS3/CS4 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver) required. Strong knowledge of Action Script (2 & 3) HTML and CSS essential. Design degree required.  Publishing experience a plus.

Online Content Creator

NAPCO seeks a content creator to create and manage content for its suite of online properties. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, e-mail newsletters, original online articles, blogs and webcasts. Ideal candidate will have experience in daily news writing and meeting multiple deadlines, as well as video. Online writing experience and b to b blogs and forums a plus. Clips required. Candidate must be able to meet daily dealines, manage multiple taks and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Web Developer

LAMP Developers to work on exciting, new and evolving initiatives in a growing team environment. Ideal candidate designs and codes without the assistance of website design applications and creates easy to understand user interfaces. Candidates should have experience with interface design and understand usability issues.

Must be detail-oriented with an ability to communicate effectively.  Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time.  Ability to work in a close team environment and interact/communicate with both technical and non-technical staff. Prior content management systems (CMS) experience preferred. Must possess the following skill set:

Must Have:
* PHP Object-oriented programming
* Well-versed in, AJAX Web 2.0 and DHTML frameworks
* Experience with Wordpress or other PHP based frameworks and/or CMS's
* An understanding of Linux
* Knowledge of W3 web standards and user-oriented design
* Must be experienced in designing and building scalable back-end systems
* Well-versed in HTML, CSS, Javascript and AJAX, Minifying techniques,
Python, Ruby
* Extensive knowledge of standards compliant HTML4.0, XHTML1.0 and CSS2
* An understanding of Web 2.0 design trends, styles and technologies
* Ability to research emerging technologies and identify possible
applications.
* Experience with cross-browser compatibility including Internet Explorer
rendering issues and solutions.

Preferred But Not Mandatory:
* MySQL.MSSQL database design, configuration and performance tuning
* Experience integrating front-end Smarty templates with back-end
functionality.
* Experience with web services XML/API
