Content Marketing Specialist

The Content Marketing Specialist will play a key role on the Audience Development Team by working on content-driven initiatives meant to grow and develop our audience. The ideal candidate will be a savvy marketer who knows what it takes to develop an effective content marketing strategy that both engages and converts.

This role requires experience creating and executing both owned and paid media initiatives across platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google and more. This person will work alongside each member of the Audience Development Team as well as various departments such as Digital Strategy, Editorial and Marketing.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Editorial teams to improve social media presence by analyzing performance, building channel-specific strategies, staying up to date on best practices and identifying workflow improvements
  • Improve SEO strategy by analyzing performance, staying up to date on best practices and providing recommendations to the Editorial teams for implementation
  • Review bulk website errors impacting SEO and provide solutions
  • Work alongside Editorial teams to improve overall content strategy by identifying content that drives traffic, engages and converts as well as recommend timely, quality content topics
  • Develop a feedback loop and reporting structure for social media, SEO and content strategies that will be shared with key stakeholders
  • Develop and execute campaigns created to drive audience from awareness through to conversion utilizing owned and paid media channels such as Google Ads, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Create copy for campaigns in the form of emails, social media ads, native ads and more
  • Optimize use of paid media budget with a focus on quality conversions
  • Use analytics tools to optimize both organic and paid campaigns as well as build an understanding of user behavior in each target audience segment

Experience and Skills for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in a marketing or communications role, experience working in publishing/media is a plus
  • A self-starter who is not afraid to take on new challenges
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage priorities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong understanding of marketing concepts
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience using WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and SEMRush
  • Familiarity with other CMS, SEO or social media tools is a plus
  • Ability to utilize and identify emerging platforms for web, SEO and social media management/measuring
  • Proven ability to develop creative and strategy for campaigns optimized for conversion
  • Experience using Google Ads, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Experience using design tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva is a plus
